Tommy Rickard

Musician, Producer, Voice Over Artist, Musical Director, Singer/Songwriter, & Educator



A native to the bay area, Tommy grew up immersed in the San Francisco music scene. Spending his early drumming days playing in Northern California punk bands, opening for, Black Flag, Social Distortion, and Agent Or-ange. AThe next chapter was spent in the studio and on the road with San Francisco’s, Vain. After the Vain members decided to go their separate ways, Tommy began performing, and recording with bands, producers, singer/songwriters, such as Linda Perry, Scott Weiland,Eric Martin, Ronnie Montrose, Single, Naughty by Nature,Tone Loc, and the Sugar Hill Gang to name a few. While working with Linda, Tommy recorded her Grammy winning song “Beautiful,”which became a #1 single for Christina Aguilera. Tommy now spends his time as a member or Orchid, who are in process of recording a new album, and preparing for an international tour. As well as doing recording sessions in the States, and in Europe, teaching, and producing The Hard Road a documentary series about artists pursuing their passions, while overcoming what can sometimes be life threatening and soul changing challenges.

Current/Recent Projects

Tommy is the Creator, and Executive Producer of The Hard Road, a Documentary series about artists pursuing their passions, and never giving up their dreams…No matter the the obstacle.

He is currently playing with Orchid. And they are in pre-production stages of a new album, as well as doing a few, one off shows, until the new record is done.

Tommy also played on the latest Vain album, Roll With the Punches, as well as touring with Vain.

He was also the musical director and drummer for the Bass Player Magazine’s, Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony, for Lemmy Kilmister, at Bass Player Live. As well as being hired as musical director and drummer to play with Celebrity guests such as Ke$ha, Dee Snider, Mark McGrath, Steve Harwell/Smash Mouth, and Tone Loc, at a variety of corporate and private events.

Voice Over


Tommy Rickard approaches teaching in a fun, creative, and inspiring yet disciplined way. Creating a lesson plan that engages students with their favorite songs, introducing Motown grooves and instilling a solid foundation including snare solos written for drum corps. Each lesson plan is uniquely crafted for the student’s individual personality, talent and desires. Studying extensively with the legendary Chuck Brown, and Mike Johnston, Tommy has leveraged years of experience and learnings in his approach to teaching. Rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area and am often in Los Angeles for studio work, performances and instructions.
